Khan had participated in some online programming challenges on a website, and he landed the big job after Google spotted him there. A few rounds of online interviews later, he got the call for a final screening at Google’s London office.

The ToI report said Khan was surprised by the offer. “I used to participate as it was fun. I did not even know that firms check programmers’ profiles on such sites,” he was quoted as saying.

He will get a Rs 54.5 lakh basic salary, and 15 per cent bonus and stock options worth Rs 58.9 lakh over four years.
