The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with gaiety and national fervour across the length and breadth of Rajasthan on Monday. The celebration began with Governor Haribhau Kishanrao Bagade hoisting the national flag and taking salute by contingents of the marching-past Army, Para Military Forces, Rajasthan Police and NCC cadets in a grand ceremony at the state-level function at the SMS Stadium here this morning .
SchoolChildren and a troupe of folk artists — dancers presented colourful cultural programmes.

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, State Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani, members of the state council of ministers and dignitaries from different walks of life were present.
On the occasion, the Governor felicitated 42 dignitaries, including 17 police officers, for excellence in their respective arena. While Inspector General Satyendra Singh was honoured with the President Police Medal, 16 cops including Inspector General Vikas were decorated with the Police Medals.
In his ceremonial address at the function, Governor Bagade called on people to play a proactive role in transformation of the state and the country into Viksit Bharat and Viksit Rajasthan. He hailed the Bhajan Lal Sharma-led government for giving higher priority to employment generation for youths that have provided government jobs to over one lakh youths and have paved way for early recruitment of 1.5 lakh more jobless youths. Bagade also praised the government for efforts for curbing – preventing copying and incidence of paper leaks.
Prior to this, the Governor unfurled the tricolour at the Raj Bhawan (Lok Bhawan).
Chief Minister Sharma hoisted the national flag at the official function at the historic Manak Chowk Chauper here, besides, the ceremony at his official CM Residence and the ruling BJP State headquarters.
The speaker Devnani unfurled the national flag at the Assembly Complex.
The Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly (LoP) Tika Ram Jully also unfurled the flag at function held by the Principal Opposition Congress at the Manak Chowk Chauper here while the party state president Govind Singh Dotasra hoisted hoisted the tricolour at the party state headquarters at Indira Gandhi Bhawan here.
Opposition leaders at both functions expressed concerns over “threats to the constitution” and reaffirmed resolve to defend the constitution and its sanctity.
Functions were also held at premises of the other political parties, social organisations, educational institutions and other such bodies.
Reports of the R-Day celebrations have also poured in from all districts.
Prior to the celebrations of the day, the state Governor Vagade, Chief Minister Sharma and many others went to the “Amar Jawan Jyoti” memorial to pay floral tributes to martyrs.
Later in the afternoon, the Governor hoisted ‘At-Home’ at the Lok Bhawan.
