Ram Mohan, an Indian-American tech leader, one of the Fathers of the multilingual Internet, and a key figure in the growth of the .IN registry, will be inducted into the Internet Hall of Fame. This prestigious honor recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the global development and advancement of the Internet.

A native of Chennai who studied in Manipal and Trichy, Ram Mohan’s career has been defined by his commitment to building a more inclusive and secure digital world. He is being honored for his pivotal role in building a multilingual Internet and his groundbreaking work in strengthening internet infrastructure worldwide.

From 2004 to 2018, Ram Mohan led the mission to revitalize the .IN registry, working closely with MeitY and NIXI to transform India’s country code into a cornerstone of the nation’s digital growth. Among his most significant achievements was his leadership in getting India’s official languages added to the Internet’s root system, and to have .BHARAT in all 22 languages. This monumental effort ensured that millions of people could access the internet in their native scripts, a key step in bridging the digital divide and democratizing online access. He is also the founder of the Universal Acceptance Steering Group (UASG) and the Coalition on Digital Impact (CODI).
