Former Bahubali MP Dhananjay Singh has once again come into the spotlight after his name surfaced in the high-profile Ajit Singh murder case, which occurred near Kathauta Lake here.
Key witness Mohar Singh directly named Dhananjay Singh in court, alleging that the former MP was involved in the conspiracy to murder Ajit Singh. Following this testimony, legal troubles for Dhananjay Singh may deepen.

Mohar Singh, who was also injured in the attack in which Ajit Singh was killed, identified the shooters in court and claimed that Dhananjay Singh played a key role in the murder plot along with others. Notably, the STF had given Dhananjay a clean chit during the initial investigation.
Special MP-MLA Court Judge Harbans Narayan has scheduled July 28 for the cross-examination of witness Mohar Singh by the defence. The court has also ordered security arrangements for Singh.
In his deposition, Mohar Singh stated that Kuntu, Akhand, Pradeep, and Dhananjay Singh conspired to murder Ajit Singh, and that shooters had been hired to execute the plan.
It is worth mentioning that on the night of January 6, 2021, Ajit Singh, a close aide of mafia don Mukhtar Ansari, was shot dead at Kathauta crossing in Lucknow’s Vibhutikhand area. Mohar Singh was also injured in the same attack and had retaliated during the encounter, injuring a shooter named Rajesh Tomar.
Based on Mohar Singh’s complaint, the Vibhutikhand police had initially registered a report, and later the investigation was transferred to the Special Task Force (STF).
The STF, in its chargesheet, had accused Dhananjay Singh of aiding the accused and not informing police despite having knowledge of the crime. However, he was not charged under sections related to murder, attempted murder, criminal conspiracy, destruction of evidence, or Section 34 (common intention) of the IPC.
With Mohar Singh’s recent testimony, Dhananjay Singh’s legal troubles appear to be mounting once again.
