Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav claimed that farmers in Uttar Pradesh are constantly grappling with the fertilizer crisis under the BJP government.
“After paddy, fertilizers are not available to farmers in the state for the wheat and other crops. They are made to run from pillar to post for fertilizers,” he alleged.

In a statement here on Sunday, Akhilesh Yadav stated that long lines of farmers are seen at cooperative societies in Lakhimpur Kheri, Mahoba, Fatehpur, Badaun, Amethi, and other districts. “After waiting for hours at the doors of the DAP and NPK, hundreds of farmers return home disappointed every day unable to obtain the fertilizers. Ever since the BJP government came to power in the state, the farmers are facing the fertilizer crisis as black marketing and profiteering continue with BJP members themselves involved in this racket. The government has nothing but false assurances to offer to farmers,” he claimed.

The SP president alleged that the government has ruined farmers but remains insensitive to their woes. He called the BJP government in the state anti-farmer. “The BJP wants farmers to remain in distress and abandon farming and sell their land to industrialists at throwaway prices. Hence, the party is conspiring to drive farmers away from farming and their land. Due to the hardships, a large number of farmers are forced to abandon farming and become labourers,” he said.
Akhilesh Yadav stated that farmers across the state initially lacked fertilizer for paddy crops. They were lathi-charged at many places. Now, they are facing the same situation for the wheat crop. “In Mahoba, thousands of farmers visited cooperative societies for fertilizer, but only a few received it. In Lakhimpur, fertilizer was not delivered to cooperative societies. Instead of doubling farmers’ income, the government has created a crisis for their farming. This situation persists season after season,” he said .
“Only when the BJP is removed from power in 2027 will the farmers’ problems be solved and the farmers will get fertilizers and other facilities,” he said.
