BLO dies during public hearing on SIR in Saharanpur

Senior Congress leader and former Leader of Opposition in the Rajasthan Assembly, Rameshwar Dudi passed away in Bikaner late Friday night following illness.
Dudi (62) had suffered a massive brain stroke over two years ago and since then he had been in a coma. He was under treatment at AIIMS Delhi. He was recently brought back home in Bikaner, but remained on life support till he breathed his last.

Born on July 1, 1963, Dudi began his political career as an NSUI leader, later entering the main-stream winning election as Pradhan in the Nokha Panchayat Samiti (1995-1999). He was elected to the Lok Sabha from Bikaner on the Congress ticket (1999-2004).

He also served as Zila Pramukh of Bikaner for two terms before being elected as MLA from Nokha (2013). Dudi worked as LoP in the assembly (2013 – 2018), However, he lost the subsequent assembly elections in 2018. In the 2023 poll, due to his ill-health, the Congress fielded Dudi’s wife Sushila on the Nokha assembly seat and she won it for the party.
The top state political leadership, across the party divides, including Governor Haribhau Bagade, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, his predecessors Ashok Gehlot and Vasundhara Raje, Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani, LoP Tika Ram Jully and several other dignitaries have condoled the demise, praying for eternal peace to the departed soul.
Wreath was also offered on Dudi’s body to Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi. Ex CM Gehlot, Cabinet Minister Sumit Godara (BJP), Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra, several sitting MLAs reached Bikaner to attend the funeral.
