An encounter has been underway between security forces and terrorists in the Billawar area of the Kathua district in Jammu division since Wednesday afternoon.
The gunfight broke out after a terrorist was spotted by local residents around 4 pm at Kamadh Nullah, which falls under the Billawar police station area. Officials said the terrorists were seen earlier in the day in the Dhannu Parole area.

Additional forces have been rushed to the spot.

Firing is underway in the forests of Dhanu Parole. Security forces had launched a search operation after receiving inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area. The exchange of fire began when the troops came face to face with the Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists during the operation.
IGP Jammu BS Tuti said, “Special Operations Group (SOG) Kathua has engaged terrorists in the forest of Kamadh Nullah, Kathua.”
“Despite darkness, thick vegetation and treacherous terrain, SOG is relentlessly engaging the terrorists. Teams of CRPF are also participating in the Joint Operation,” he added.
