In line with the Uniform Drinking Water Policy and in response to recent audit observations, East Coast Railway has, for the first time, introduced multi-parameter Water Quality Field Test Kits across the Khurda Road Division. These kits have been supplied to all Health Inspectors (HIs) and Food Safety Officers (FSOs) working under the Medical Department of the division.

Each kit enables on-the-spot testing of 12 key water quality parameters, including: pH, turbidity, hardness, alkalinity, chloride, residual chlorine, iron, nitrate, fluoride, phosphate, ammonia and bacteriological quality.

This will significantly enhance the capability of field staff to assess drinking water sources in real time, ensure compliance with standards, and improve passenger amenities.

A live demonstration on water analysis was also conducted at the auditorium of Divisional Railway Hospital, Khurda Road, to familiarise the staff with procedures and field application.

East Coast Railway remains committed to ensuring safe, clean and reliable drinking water for passengers and staff across all stations and facilities, ECoR said in a statement.
