The ECI aims to complete the election process by mid-November, ensuring a new government is in place before November 22. The commission is likely to schedule the polls in three phases and around Diwali and Chhath festivals, avoiding any disruptions to these major celebrations in Bihar.

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, initiated in June 2025, is nearing completion. The final draft is expected to have 7.3 crore voters, with 14 lakh new additions, including 10 lakh first-time voters.

The ECI’s visit and preparations come amid ongoing legal proceedings in the Supreme Court regarding the SIR exercise. The court has directed the EC to publish the list of deleted names, allowing voters to file objections. The final arguments will be heard on October 7, after which the SC is likely to pass orders on the legality of the SIR.
