ECI in its letter said, “EC has granted an appointment for an interaction at 12:00 PM today. It is requested that, due to the limitation of space, names of up to 30 persons may kindly be intimated.”

However, it could not independently verified if EC scheduled such an appointment on Congress request.

The agenda of the meeting was unknown.

Over 300 MPs from opposition parties were to march to ECI over ‘vote chori’ allegations

Over 300 MPs from 25 opposition parties are set to march from Parliament to the Election Commission of India headquarters in Delhi on Monday, protesting alleged “vote chori” in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar.

The rally, slated to begin at 11:30 am from Parliament’s Makar Dwar, will see participation from parties including Congress, Samajwadi Party, TMC, DMK, AAP, Left parties, RJD, NCP (SP), Shiv Sena (UBT), and the National Conference.

Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Gaurav Gogoi, along with other INDIA bloc MPs, had earlier staged a similar protest during the Monsoon session of Parliament. However, Delhi Police is unlikely to allow the march to proceed to the EC office, located less than 2 km away.

LoP Rahul Gandhi alleges poll fraud during Lok Sabha, ,Maharashtra dn Karnataka polls

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday alleged the Election Commission of India (ECI) is not tied to any political party but functions under the Constitution.

The ECI, in response, asked him to either sign a declaration substantiating his allegations of poll fraud or apologise to the nation for making what it called baseless accusations.

Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, was speaking at the ‘Vote Adhikaar Rally’ in Bengaluru.

He alleged, “ECI does not work for BJP but functions under the Constitution of India.”

Recalling recent elections, he alleged that during the last Lok Sabha polls, followed by the Maharashtra and Karnataka Assembly elections, something unusual came to light. In Maharashtra, he claimed, ”the INDIA bloc had won the Lok Sabha polls, but just four months later, the BJP secured victory in the Assembly elections.” This, he said, was startling — especially after discovering that one crore new voters had been added for the state polls.

Referring to his press conference the previous day, Gandhi asserted that they had presented “100% proof” of what he described as the Election Commission and the BJP’s involvement in large-scale vote theft.”

Addressing a press conference, Gandhi had leveled allegations of electoral manipulation against the Election Commission and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, claiming that since the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the poll panel colluded with the BJP to steal elections. He cited discrepancies in voter lists and sudden spikes in voting patterns.

The Congress leader had claimed there was “vote chori” of 1,00,250 votes in a constituency with 11,965 duplicate voters in one assembly segment; 40,009 voters with fake and invalid addresses; 10,452 bulk voters or single address voters; 4,132 voters with invalid photos; and 33,692 voters misusing Form 6 of new voters.
