The Election Commission of India (ECI) Monday said it has taken a significant step towards strengthening the electoral process by conducting structured meetings with national and state political parties. These meetings aim to provide a platform for parties to share their suggestions and concerns directly with the Commission.
In a press note issued on Monday, the ECI said it has conducted 4,719 structured meetings with political parties, including 40 meetings by Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs), 800 by District Election Officers (DEOs), and 3,879 by Electoral Registration Officers (EROs).

The Commission said it has held meetings with the heads of 5 national parties, including the Bahujan Samaj Party, Bharatiya Janata Party, Communist Party of India (Marxist), National People’s Party, and Aam Aadmi Party.
The ECI has also interacted with 17 recognized state political parties, including the All India Trinamool Congress, Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party, and Samajwadi Party.
The meetings aim to strengthen the electoral process by providing a platform for political parties to share their suggestions and concerns.
The ECI said it is working to ensure that the electoral rolls are accurate and up-to-date, which is crucial for free and fair elections.
The structured meetings mark a departure from the earlier mode of interaction with political parties, which were prompted solely by representations from the parties.
