Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Navdeep Rinwa on Friday said that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has removed 121 registered political parties from the list of political parties in Uttar Pradesh for failing to contest any Assembly or Lok Sabha elections since 2019.

He informed that these parties have now ceased to be entitled to benefits available to political parties under Section 29B and Section 29C of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the provisions of the Income Tax Act, 1961, and the Election Symbols (Reservation and Allotment) Order, 1968.

The Chief Electoral Officer, in a statement issued here, said that any party aggrieved by this order may appeal to the Election Commission of India, New Delhi, within 30 days from the date of the order.

A district-wise list of the delisted parties has also been released, covering 121 registered political parties with registered addresses across 51 districts of Uttar Pradesh.

Earlier, these political parties had been served notices to present their response on the matter.
