During a campaign event in Kattakkada, Krishnadas stated that if the CPI(M)-led LDF or the Congress-led UDF came to power, “love jihad” would become widespread in Kerala.

Addressing a public meeting in Kattakkada on Sunday, he further alleged that if either front formed the government, it would be controlled by SDPI and Jamaat-e-Islami, and that “pro-Pakistan organisations” would promote “love jihad”, leading to the conversion of Hindu and Christian girls and their alleged use in anti-national activities.

“Whether you vote for the hand or the hammer, sickle and star, girls from Hindu and Christian communities will be recruited for treasonous activities under the pretext of love. Voters in Kerala should think about whether to allow this.

A dangerous situation is about to come to Kerala. On one side is Jamaat-e-Islami, on the other side is SDPI. Both of these are anti-national and pro-Pakistan organisations. The Congress and the CPI(M) have formed an alliance and cooperation with these two organisations,” Krishnadas said.

Meanwhile, BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar distanced the party from the remarks, clarifying that the BJP does not officially hold the view that “love jihad” would be implemented if the LDF or UDF comes to power. He noted that no such position is mentioned in the party’s manifesto.
