The East Coast Railway (ECoR) continues to maintain a strong performance in railway operations, infrastructure development, and passenger services, reflecting the collective dedication and efforts of its workforce, General Manager, ECoR Parmeshwar Funkwal said while addressing the 77th Republic Day function here today.

Special emphasis is being laid on initiatives aimed at enhancing passenger convenience and safety, capacity augmentation, introduction of modern (Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches, and steady progress in new line, doubling, and multi-tracking projects, he said on the occasion.

The General Manager also underlined the zone’s focus on safety enhancement through infrastructure upgrades, elimination of level crossings, commissioning of road over bridges, and implementation of several passenger-centric works.

He also highlighted the honours received by Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel of East Coast Railway. Four RPF personnel of ECoR have been awarded the prestigious President’s Medal for their outstanding contribution in their respective fields.

Praful Chandra Panda, Inspector, and Prakash Charan Das, Inspector, ECoR, have received the President’s Medal. Additionally, Pappala Srinivasa Rao, Sub Inspector, and D. V. Murali Krishna, Assistant Sub Inspector, ECoR, have been conferred with the Meritorious Service Medal, bringing pride to the zone.

Concluding the Republic Day celebrations, General Manager Parmeshwar Funkwal congratulated all railway personnel and their families for their unwavering dedication, hard work, and commitment in achieving these historic milestones. On this Republic Day, East Coast Railway reaffirmed its commitment to excellence in railway services, safety, and infrastructure development, continuing its contribution to the nation’s progress.

All Principal Heads of Departments of East Coast Railway, Senior Deputy General Manager A. K. Chaturvedi, senior officials and staff, and the President of East Coast Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (ECoRWWO), Kavita Funkwal, were present on the occasion. A cultural programme was also organised by school children and volunteers of Bharat Scouts & Guides to mark the celebration.
