A 35-year-old jawan of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)’s Radar Observatory Air Surveillance unit at Kiyarbanka village under Mahakalpada police station jurisdiction of Odisha’s Kendrapara district allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself to death with his service rifle while on duty, police said on Sunday.
The deceased Jawan has been identified as Raj Sekharan, a native of Tamil Nadu.

Preliminary probe has found it to be a case of suicide
. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of the death. The rifle was seized and was sent for scientific examination, said Bimal Kumar Mallik, Inspector, Mahakalpada police station.
