In the dock following the ED red flagging a massive scam in the recent recruitment in his Department, Tamil Nadu Minister KN Nehru has termed it politically motivated and asserting necessary legal steps would be taken to counter the slander against the DMK government.
“There is no irregularity in the recruitment of Assistant Engineers and other posts. This is a blatant attempt to cast aspersions on the Dravidian Model Government and needs to be condemned. Necessary legal steps would be taken to counter it,” he told reporters in Chennai. “More than one lakh aspirants had applied for the posts but none had raised any complaint. The results were announced in a transparent manner,” he added.

Later in a statement, he said, “This is yet another attempt of the ED under the Union government, which had failed in taking up and sensationalising a years-old bank related case, with sole intention of bringing disrepute to the Dravidian Model Government. Recruitments were not filled up during the last 10 years of the AIADMK government leading to heavy backlog vacancies, crippling the functioning of the Department. The entire recruitment process, right from the announcement and creation of an exclusive website as well as the conduct of the selection process, including the examination and other procedures were carried out by the Anna University.”

“In the past as well, Anna University had been entrusted with the recruitment during the AIADMK rule in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2017. This being the case, claiming that only in 2024 irregularities have crept in is laughable,” he added.
