DK’s cryptic post, Siddaramaiah son’s claim intensify Karnataka power tussle

Yathindra Siddaramaiah said he was honoured by the Congress high command’s decision to induct him into the Council of Ministers under the new government led by DK Shivakumar.

Congress MLC Yathindra Siddaramaiah on Wednesday, June 3, said it was disappointing that his father, Siddaramaiah, was not able to complete a full five-year term as the Karnataka Chief Minister.
However, he was honoured by the Congress high command’s decision to induct him into the Council of Ministers under the new government led by DK Shivakumar.

Shivakumar was sworn in as the 25th Chief Minister of Karnataka at a grand ceremony held at the Glass House within the Lok Bhavan premises in Bengaluru on Wednesday. he took the oath while holding a copy of the Constitution and invoked the name of Veera Gangadhara Ajja, the revered seer whom he regards as his spiritual guide.

While talking to mediapersons, Yathindra said the ministerial berth entrusted to him carries significant responsibility. He added that he would strive to live up to the standards set by his father.
“We had hoped that my father, Siddaramaiah, would complete a full five-year term as Chief Minister, but that did not happen. That is the disappointing part. At the same time, the party has given me an opportunity to serve as a minister. It is a big responsibility,” IANS quoted Yathindra as saying.
He added, “My father is known for his good administration and commitment to the people. Like him, I want to earn a good name and provide effective governance. I will put in my best efforts to fulfil this responsibility”.
He further assured that his father will continue to remain the leader of the AHINDA (minorities, backward classes and Dalits) communities and play an active role in the state politics. “My father has made it clear that he will continue in active politics. He has said that he will continue fighting communal forces and those working against the Constitution. He remains the undisputed leader of the AHINDA communities,” he said.
