Bad weather forces Rahul to cancel Almora rally, return to Delhi
Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi's Almora rally was cancelled on Thursday owing to bad weather conditions in the Kumaon region.
Delhi Police on Monday detained Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi, TMC MP Sagarika Ghose, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, and several others who were marching towards the Election Commission of India’s office to protest against the alleged “vote theft” in the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.
Speaking to mediapersons from the police van, Priyanka said, “Modi government is scared, they are cowards.”

Rahul Gandhi said that his fight is not political but to save the Constitution, adding that the truth about the vote theft is before the country.

“The truth about vote theft has come before the country. This fight is not political; it is a fight to save the Constitution. This is a fight for one person, one vote, so we need a clean voter list,” he told reporters from inside the police van.

The police stopped the MPs shortly after they began their march from the Makar Dwar of the Parliament.
Earlier today, around 300 Opposition MPs from both the Houses of Parliament gathered at the Makar Dwar of Parliament.
The MPs sang the National Anthem as they began their protest march to the Election Commission of India.
As the Opposition members began their protest march, Delhi Police stopped them. The MPs were not allowed to continue their march towards the ECI office, and top leaders, including Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, were detained.
The protest march came days after Rahul Gandhi alleged rigging in the 2024 Lok Sabha election, sharing what he described as “criminal evidence” to back his claim.
He gave a detailed presentation on how the election at the Bengaluru Central Lok Sabha constituency was manipulated. Rahul claimed that there are over one lakh fake voters in the constituency.
Following this, the Congress launched an online campaign to mobilise public support against what it termed “vote chori” (vote theft).
Rahul Gandhi shared a post on his X handle, urging citizens to register on a newly launched web portal: votechori.in/ecdemand, or give a missed call to 9650003420 to support the cause.
