Dalai Lama arrives in Leh to rousing welcome
The Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama was on Sunday accorded a grand welcome when he reached Leh for his summer sojourn. He was flown to Leh from New Delhi in an Army aircraft.
The Dalai Lama welcomed President Pavel at his residence, Shewatsel Phodrang, in Leh.

Czech President, Petr Pavel, on Sunday called on Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama in Leh (Ladakh), where he is currently camping.
The Dalai Lama welcomed President Pavel at his residence, Shewatsel Phodrang, in Leh.

Sources said that during the meeting, President Pavel expressed support for the Middle Way Approach and the Dalai Lama’s call for genuine autonomy for Tibet.

The Dalai Lama had returned to Leh yesterday from Zanskar, where he had delivered teachings and sermons for about a week.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Friday met the Dalai Lama in the national capital to enquire about the 90-year-old Tibetan spiritual leader's health following his recent knee replacement surgery.
Leh is gearing up to welcome the Dalai Lama later this month, with district authorities reviewing elaborate security, traffic, medical and logistical arrangements ahead of his June 28 arrival.
