With actor Vijay’s massive turnout at his mass outreach dominating the political discourse, veteran actor and Rajya Sabha MP Kamal Haasan on Saturday remarked that large crowds do not necessarily translate into votes.
“Crowd turnouts have seldom transformed into votes,” he told reporters in response to a question on Vijay drawing huge gatherings at his rallies.

“This holds true for all leaders, including me. Crowds won’t automatically convert into votes. The same applies to Vijay and every political leader,” he added. “Criticism arises not only when they take the political plunge but even when they step into filmdom.”
“Proceed on the right path, move forward with confidence, and work for the welfare of the people. This is my appeal to all leaders. Even as an ordinary citizen, this is my plea,” he said.
Positioning himself as an alternative to the ruling DMK and projecting himself as the Chief Ministerial face of the TVK, Vijay has been attracting massive crowds at his rallies in Trichy, Ariyalur, Nagapattinam, and Tiruvarur, all held on Saturdays. He began his four-month-long outreach in Trichy on September 13, which will conclude on December 20 in Madurai.
