CPI MP P Sandosh Kumar on Friday accused Rahul Gandhi of running a malicious campaign against the Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Keralam, and raised concerns over the alleged “corruption” in collection and utilisation of funds by the Congress party in the aftermath of Wayanad landslides.
In a strongly-worded letter written to Gandhi, Kumar said, “I am constrained to write this rather unpleasant letter to you in response to your untruthful, baseless, and malicious campaign against the LDF in Keralam, where you have levelled baseless, distasteful and unsubstantiated allegations against the LDF leadership and the Left parties in general.”

He said that the Left, across the country, is recognised for its “integrity and principled public life”, adding that the Congress should introspect within before casting aspersions on others.

Kumar also metnioned the FIR registered in Delhi against the Congress party in connection with the alleged cash for ticket scandal involving individuals “at the highest levels of the Congress leadership.”
“These charges have been levelled by a former General Secretary of the Haryana Pradesh Mahila Congress. Congress General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal, Congress Chief Whip in the LokSabha K Suresh, Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s PA Sahab Ahmad Khan, and KC Venugopal’s PA Anas Ali have been named in connection with extracting huge sums of money on the promise of an assembly ticket,” he said.
The CPI MP said that the individuals named in the FIR are widely understood to function within the inner circles of the Congress and perceived to be personally close to Rahul Gandhi.
He stressed that similar allegations of cash for tickets have also been raised by Congress workers in states such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Assam, indicating that this is not an isolated instance but “reflective of a deeper and more systemic malaise.”
Kumar further highlighted the allegations of irregularities in the collection and utilisation of funds by the Congress in the aftermath of the Chooralmala Mundakkai landslides in Wayanad district of Keralam.
“Substantial amounts are reported to have been collected from the public and other sources in the name of relief and rehabilitation. However, there remains a concerning lack of transparency regarding the total funds collected, the banks where these funds were deposited, and the manner in which they have been utilised for the benefit of the affected victims,” he charged.
He asked the Congress leader to “place complete and verifiable details in the public domain to dispel these doubts.”
“You must either take decisive action against those named in the FIR and ensure full transparency and accountability in the utilisation of funds collected for landslide victims, or abandon the claim of standing against corruption.
“There can be no equivocation on matters of such gravity. If individuals perceived to be closest to you are shielded despite serious allegations, and if legitimate questions on public funds remain unanswered, then the anti-corruption posture you seek to project proves to be a mere charade,” he wrote.
“The credibility of your politics will ultimately be judged not by rhetoric, but by your willingness to confront corruption and ensure transparency within your own ranks,” Kumar concluded.
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla accused Rahul Gandhi of spreading panic and misinformation after the Congress leader claimed an "institutional revolt" was underway and predicted PM Modi would not remain in office for another year.
