Congress to launch ‘Bihar Ki Huankar’ yatra to protect voting rights

The Congress will launch a massive yatra, ‘Bihar Ki Huankar,’ on August 17, from Sasaram, Bihar, party general secretary Pawan Khera said on Saturday.

Addressing a press conference, Khera said that the 16-day, 1,300-kilometer journey will culminate in a grand rally in Patna on September 1.

He said that the yatra aims to protect the fundamental right to vote and raise awareness about the alleged attempts by the BJP-led government to disenfranchise marginalized communities, including Dalits, tribals, and the economically weaker sections.

Giving details of the program, Khera said that the yatra will focus on the importance of voting rights and the need to protect them from alleged attempts by the government to suppress them.

The yatra will be led by senior Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, along with other prominent leaders from the INDIA bloc.

The yatra is seen as a significant move to mobilize public opinion and raise awareness about the importance of voting rights and the need to protect them. The Congress party hopes to build a strong movement against alleged attempts to suppress voting rights and ensure that the voices of marginalized communities are heard.

The yatra assumes added significance in the wake of the upcoming Assembly polls in Bihar

“Every time Mr. Rahul Gandhi has embarked upon a march like this, democracy has turned a page… a leaf, and such marches always strengthen, enrich our democracy,” said Khera.
