Congress leader Jairam Ramesh Tuesday raised questions over lack of comment from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sudden resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar as the Vice President of India.
Criticizing Modi for not showing “a bit of magnanimity” despite being “skilled at pretense”, the Congress general secretary lamented that Dhankhar, referred to as a “farmer’s son”, wasn’t given a dignified farewell.

Dhankhar resigned citing health reasons on Monday, the first day of the Monsoon session of Parliament.
Ramesh suggested there were “far deeper reasons” behind Dhankhar’s resignation, pointing to the absence of ministers, JP Nadda and Kiren Rijiju, from a Business Advisory Committee meeting chaired by Dhankhar.
Ramesh had also urged Modi to persuade Dhankhar to reconsider his resignation, stating that it would be in the nation’s interest.
