Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi on Friday welcomed the launch of the digital Nehru Archive, a vast online collection of Jawaharlal Nehru’s speeches, writings, and letters spanning from 1903 to 1964.
The archive, accessible at nehruarchive.in, was unveiled by the Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund on Thursday, coinciding with the 136th birth anniversary of India’s first prime minister.

Rahul Gandhi praised the initiative on social media, stating, “This legacy is now open, searchable, and free for all,” underscoring Nehru’s writings as a vital record of India’s evolving conscience. Kharge highlighted the archive’s significance in combating misinformation, asserting, “Facts are facts and will not disappear on account of your likes.”
The digital repository features over 75,000 pages and 3,000 illustrations, including correspondence, speeches, interviews, administrative notes, and even personal doodles, offering rich insights into India’s freedom struggle and formative years post-independence. Madhavan Palat, Secretary of the JNMF, noted, “This online version would be of immense benefit to anybody who wishes to study any aspect of Indian history from the 1920s to the 1960s.”
Plans are also underway to further enrich the archive with photographs, audio, and video recordings, making it an invaluable resource for historians, researchers, and citizens interested in India’s rich heritage.
