Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Friday targeted the previous Congress-led government for “ignoring Dholpur district” in development works, claiming the current regime has executed projects worth Rs 2,000 crore in the past two years.

Addressing a state-level women’s convention, Mahila Sammelan, at Pachgaon in Dholpur district on Friday, Sharma said, “The erstwhile Congress government did not allot any development work or project to this district.”

“Since December 2023, we have sanctioned colleges and schools, allocated adequate funds for free uniforms for students, provided 53,000 water connections under the Jal Jiwan Mission (JJM), and approved irrigation, power, and road projects involving investments of over Rs 2,000 crore,” he said.

“In a bid to settle internal rivalries, opposition leaders resort to social media to attack us and ridicule our development works and achievements. Since we speak with facts and evidence, they have no basis to condemn or contradict our claims,” Sharma said.

Contrary to the previous Congress regime’s failure in containing crimes — particularly atrocities against women — and maintaining law and order, the BJP’s double-engine government has improved the situation. Crime rates have fallen by 12 per cent over the past two years. Numerous initiatives have also been undertaken to provide full security and safety to women and empower them socially and economically through programmes such as Self-Help Groups, Aanganbadi, Lakhpati Didi Scheme, and Lado Yojana.

The Chief Minister also disbursed funds through direct bank transfers (DBT), bank loans under the Lakhpati Didi scheme, and other benefits to millions of beneficiaries of women-centric schemes under the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment and in the school and college education sector.

Sharma also distributed bicycles to schoolgirls and scooties to persons with disabilities. He also viewed an exhibition showcasing initiatives of various departments.

Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari and Minister of State for Home Jawahar Singh Bedam also addressed the gathering.
