Authorities in Odisha’s Sundargarh town have withdrawn internet services for 24 hours after a group clash between two communities left over a dozen people injured on Thursday, a senior police official said.
To avert a possible breach of peace, the district administration has also enforced a prohibitory order under Section 163 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), banning assemblies of four or more people in the township, said an official.

Internet services have been withdrawn from 6 pm today till 6 pm Friday in the whole of Sundargarh Township as a precautionary measure to stop the spread of misinformation and rumour.
The clash between two communities was reported this afternoon in the Regent Market area. The warring groups resorted to stone pelting, leaving at least 12 persons injured from both factions.
In order to prevent the spread of inflammatory and motivated messages to circulate on the social media platforms, an internet shutdown has been clamped down, according to the official.
