CM Yogi consoles family of NEET aspirant killed by cattle smugglers

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday met the grieving family of NEET aspirant Deepak Gupta, who was brutally killed by suspected cattle smugglers in a recent violent incident in Gorakhpur.

The CM met the victim’s mother, Seema Devi, and handed over a cheque of Rs 5 lakh as immediate financial assistance. He also assured full support and justice to Deepak’s father, Durgesh Gupta.

CM Yogi directed district officials to prioritize resolving all issues faced by the family and instructed them to take strict action against the accused. Member of Parliament Ravi Kishan was also present during the meeting at the Gorakhnath temple.

On the night of September 15, a group of cattle smugglers entered Deepak’s village, leading to a confrontation with locals. During the chaos, the smugglers forcibly abducted Deepak, who was preparing for the NEET exam, and later beat him to death. The brutal murder shocked the entire region.

During the incident, one of the smugglers, identified as Azhar, was caught by the villagers and severely beaten. In the ensuing clash, an SP and a local inspector were injured while trying to rescue him. Azhar succumbed to his injuries three days ago during treatment.

Deepak’s father informed that he, along with his wife, younger son Prince, and two brothers, met the Chief Minister around 10 AM at the Gorakhnath temple. The meeting lasted for about 10 minutes.

Durgesh urged the CM to declare Deepak a martyr, to which Yogi Adityanath clarified that such a status is not applicable in this context. However, he assured the family that a village road could be named in Deepak’s honor.

Durgesh also demanded that strict action be taken against all those involved in the crime.
