A scuffle broke out outside the Thamarassery court in Kozhikode district on Saturday after a young woman was allowed by the court to leave with her boyfriend, leading to a clash between her relatives and the man’s friends.
Nida Sherin (20), a native of Cheruvadi in Mukkam, had been reported missing by her relatives at the Mukkam police station. According to the complaint, she had been missing since 9:30 pm on April 4.

Following the complaint, the woman and her boyfriend, Shamil, a native of Karassery, appeared at the Mukkam police station on Saturday morning. They were later produced before the court, which permitted the woman to go with her boyfriend.

The confrontation began when the woman’s relatives approached her outside the court and asked her to accompany them, stating that they intended to conduct her nikah. Her boyfriend intervened, leading to a heated argument that soon escalated into a physical clash between the two groups on the road.
Amid the scuffle, the woman left with her boyfriend and his friends. A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media.
