Centre plans nationwide celebrations on Tribal Pride Day on Nov 15

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has planned nationwide celebrations on the occasion of Tribal Pride Day on 15 November. The Central government has declared the day as Tribal Pride Day to commemorate the contribution of tribal communities to the history and culture of the nation.

This will inspire generations to come to preserve cultural heritage and national pride. November 15 is also the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda, who is revered as a god among tribal communities across the country. Munda was a well-known freedom fighter, social reformer and a famous tribal leader.

Giving details of various programmes to be organised on Tribal Pride Day, Union Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda said in New Delhi that a big programme will be organised in Jharkhand’s Khunti district, which will be attended by President Draupadi Murmu. The President will garland the statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda at the birthplace of Birsa Munda in Ulihatu village.

The Tribal Affairs Minister informed that various Central Ministries have been asked to participate in the programs organized in the respective states on that day. He said that the states have also been asked to participate in the programs organized by the State Tribal Research Institute.

Arjun Munda said that on that day TRIFED would organize several programs on its products. Aadi Mahotsav will be organized at Gramin Haat in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore from 15 to 27 November. He said that from November 15, a week-long Aadi Bazaar would be organized at Ekamra Haat in Bhubaneswar.
