In a significant step aimed at strengthening support for migrant workers, the Centre has approved a 100 per cent increase in the allocation of five kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders under the migrant worker category.
Pursuant to this decision, the Delhi government has doubled the daily availability of 5 kg FTL cylinders from 684 to 1,368, as per the ‘Allocation Order’ dated 7, April.

This enhanced allocation is expected to ensure wider access and more equitable distribution of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) amongst the migrant workers in the national capital.
To ensure effective last-mile delivery of the increased allocation, the District Magistrates concerned have been directed to organise ‘Special Camps’ in areas with a high concentration of migrant workers.
Migrant workers facing difficulty in procuring such cylinders can approach the DM offices and request that they hold such camps in their areas. These camps will complement the existing distribution network being run by the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) through authorised LPG distributors.
These camps will be held in close coordination with OMCs to facilitate convenient access to five kg FTL cylinders for eligible migrant workers, upon payment and submission of Aadhaar as proof of identity.
Notably, the District Enforcement Teams will support the initiative through demand assessment and oversight to ensure orderly, transparent, and efficient distribution.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening last-mile delivery systems, improving accessibility, and ensuring the timely availability of essential cooking fuel for migrant workers across the national capital
