In a relief for thousands of Class 12 students awaiting post-result scrutiny of their answer sheets, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the deadline for applying for verification of marks and re-evaluation. The move comes as the board seeks to provide additional time and support to students completing the process.

The last date for submission of applications, which was earlier scheduled to end on June 6 at midnight, has now been pushed to June 7 at midnight. The board has advised students to take note of the revised timeline and complete their applications within the extended window.

The updated schedule is as follows:

  • Previous deadline: June 6, 2026 (midnight)
  • Extended deadline: June 7, 2026 (midnight)

The board said students can continue submitting requests for verification and re-evaluation through the designated online process until the revised deadline expires.

Key post-result process

Verification and re-evaluation remain among the most important post-result services offered by CBSE, allowing students to seek a review of their evaluated answer sheets if they believe there may have been discrepancies in assessment or marking.

Under the board’s system, students first obtain scanned copies of their evaluated answer books. Based on those copies, they may then apply for verification of marks or request re-evaluation of specific answers or questions.

The mechanism is intended to enhance transparency and provide students an opportunity to review the evaluation process.

High demand after results

The post-result review process has witnessed an overwhelming response this year, with more than 70,000 applications already submitted by Class 12 students seeking verification of marks and re-evaluation of answers.

The sharp rise in requests comes amid growing scrutiny of board examination assessments and increased competition for higher education admissions. The volume of applications highlights the importance students are placing on ensuring that every mark is accurately accounted for.

Board urges students to apply on time

CBSE has advised students not to wait until the final hours and to complete the application process before the revised deadline.

The board reiterated that candidates intending to seek verification or re-evaluation should carefully follow the prescribed procedure and ensure that their applications are submitted within the extended timeframe.

With the revised schedule now in effect, eligible Class 12 students have until midnight on June 7 to file their requests under the board’s verification and re-evaluation process.
