State BJP president Sanjay Jaiswal has landed in trouble for allegedly offering to pay cash to the staff of all shopkeepers in Kishanganj who vote for the BJP. The district administration has now registered a case against Jaiswal for poll code violation hours before the by-polls are to be held on Monday.

Kishanganj is one of the four assembly constituencies where by-elections are scheduled to be held on Monday along with a Lok Sabha seat.

The case was registered against the BJP president after a video of Jaiswal offering money to all the staff of the business community went viral on social media. In the video, Jaiswal could be seen asking the business community people in Kishaganj to shut down their shops on Monday—the day of polling and deploy their staffs for voting in favour of the BJP candidate for which Rs 500 will be paid to each staff.
