Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal today emphasised that the Union Budget 2026-27 would serve as a strong footing towards building ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047. He highlighted that the Budget reflects the collective resolve to transform India into a developed nation.
He referred to it as a blueprint built on economic growth, infrastructure expansion, and inclusive development.

While speaking to media reporters, Piyush Goyal reiterated PM Modi’s mantra of ‘Nagrik Devo Bhava’ (the citizen is god). He said, “The PM called upon everyone to free ourselves from the mentality of slavery and for all to fulfil our duties with the spirit of the nation first. The 2026 budget presented by the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman signifies giving new wings to a Developed India.”
The Union Minister stressed that the collective commitment of all of us to build a developed India by 2047 is once again highlighted in this Budget. He further stated, “‘Duty is equality, duty is affection, duty is universal, and duty is all-encompassing.’ If we assess the Budget, three solid duties that prepare India for the future are clearly reflected.”
Three pillars of 2026 Budget
During his address, Goyal articulated the three pillars of the 2026 Budget that are essential for achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
The first pillar – economic growth with self-reliance at its core – is central to this Budget, said the Union Minister. He highlighted that the 2026 Budget, with a provision of ₹12.21 lakh crore, for infrastructure development, will make India self-reliant and reduce our logistics costs.
The second pillar – strengthening micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), manufacturing, and startups – will fulfil the aspirations of 140 crore citizens, said Piyush Goyal. A growth fund of around ₹10,000 crore has been allocated for MSMEs, and the Credit Guarantee Scheme has been boosted.
The third pillar – promoting labour-intensive sectors – will boost exports and employment, highlighted Piyush Goyal. It is primarily guided by the vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.
The Union Minister stated that the 2026 Budget is multi-dimensional in its impact, ensuring that “a single scheme can provide multi-faceted benefits. He highlighted that the Budget will overall accelerate the nation’s journey toward becoming a developed nation by 2047.
