The Border Security Force (BSF) shot down a Pakistani drone attempting to enter Indian territory in the Sri Ganganagar sector in Rajasthan late on Saturday.

The incident is the second failed attempt by Pakistan to send a drone into Indian territory on the same day.

“One Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) intrusion was reported in Ganganagar sector at around 7.30 p.m., on Saturday. The drone was engaged and brought down,” Colonel Sombit Ghosh, PRO Defence Rajasthan, said late Saturday night.

On Saturday morning, another drone tried to enter Indian territory at around 5 am at the Hindumalkot border near the same sector.

According to the BSF, the moment it was sighted, the troopers started firing, forcing it to return.

On 4 March, an unidentified flying object was shot down at the Bikaner Nal sector along the International Border in Rajasthan by an Indian Air Force (IAF) Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter.

According to reports, the unidentified aircraft was probably a Pakistani drone that entered Indian airspace.

The drone was detected at 11:30 am by Indian Air Defence radars. The IAF immediately scrambled fighter jets, which took down the drone using air-to-air missiles.

Pakistan had earlier made an attempt to send across a drone on 26 February at the height of tensions between the two neighbours. The drone was shot down in Barmer sector.

Also on Saturday, security agencies arrested a suspected spy, identified as Fataan Khan, a resident of Sonu village in Jaisalmer, said Kiran Kang, Jaisalmer District Superintendent of Police.
