A BRS MLA was caught on CCTV slapping a toll plaza personnel but there has been no police complaint against the legislator who denied it claiming that he was merely enquiring about toll collection on an unfinished highway.

The incident occurred on Tuesday at Mandamarri toll plaza on NH 363 in the Mancherial district but the video footage of Bellampalli MLA Durgam Chinnaiah slapping the toll plaza worker went viral and local television channels started reporting it and people expressed outrage in the social media over the “arrogance” shown by the legislator.

The toll plaza was opened recently and the MLA was travelling from Bellampalli to Mancherial. The footage showed the MLA along with his personal security officer and other people alighting from his car and slapping a man near the toll collection counter.

However, the BRS MLA denied it outright that he had manhandled a staff member. He said that he merely went to ask the manager why toll was being collected for an unfinished road project.

There have been a few protests against the collection of toll for the road since it leads to a bridge which is currently under construction. The NH 363 from Mancherial to Maharashtra border is undergoing four laning and CPI had held a protest last Friday for allowing toll collection from motorists.
