Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying to project the opposition as being against women’s reservation, while, in reality, it does not want to grant reservation to women in the country.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, the SP president hit back at the Chief Minister’s “chameleon” remark.

He said, “If you observe a chameleon closely, it changes from one colour to another. The BJP is behaving in a similar manner. Their conspiracy has failed, which is why they introduced this resolution in the Assembly. Now, their conspiracy has been exposed.”

He further stated, “They want to reduce ‘women’s empowerment’ to a mere slogan. As part of this agenda, they are repeating the same narrative both on the streets and in the Assembly. Their language reflects inconsistency. You all know who the real chameleon is. Women feel unsafe due to the BJP’s style of governance. Law and order is deteriorating, and people are losing faith in judicial institutions.”

Akhilesh Yadav also said, “The Ganga Expressway was shut down after its inauguration. I have seen their previous inaugurations as well. Prices of essential commodities continue to rise, especially with the increase in LPG cylinder prices, making everything from bread to meals more expensive. They do not allow the profits of their associates to decline.”

Reacting to the West Bengal elections, he said, “What was tested in Uttar Pradesh was implemented in West Bengal. A parallel system involving central forces was created. Voting was allegedly disrupted using revolvers. Despite this, Didi will secure a historic victory. We cannot trust the technology introduced by the BJP. Every conspiracy will fail, as the public is aware and vigilant. That is why women are not supporting their campaign.”
