Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav on Friday alleged that the BJP is unparalleled in fabricating statistics and hiding its misdeeds.
“It is a master at deceiving the public. According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Uttar Pradesh currently ranks first in crime statistics, including murders, kidnappings, and crimes against women. However, as is the BJP’s habit, it manipulated statistics to conceal the truth. Its deceptive program has now been exposed. People are desperate to get rid of BJP rule because as long as it remains in power, no one’s life will be safe,” he said.

In a press statement, Yadav said, “NCRB data shows that Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of cases of crimes against women. In 2023, 223 children were murdered, 19 were raped and murdered, and 8,160 children were kidnapped in the state. There were also 2,141 cases of dowry deaths and 15,074 cases of kidnapping and hostage-taking of women.”
He further added, “Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath repeatedly claims that criminals are in trouble and that the BJP government has put a check on crime. But this statement is proving to be a mere deception. In many districts, including the capital Lucknow, cases of molestation of women, chain-snatching, rape of girls, and land grabbing against vulnerable people make headlines every day.”
Yadav said farmers are in dire straits under BJP rule. Murders of agricultural laborers are on the rise, and debt-ridden farmers are being forced to commit suicide along with their families.
He also said the statistics on crimes against Dalits in UP are disturbing. “The oppression of Dalits is at its peak. According to the NCRB, Uttar Pradesh ranks first in crimes against Dalits, with 15,130 cases registered. BJP’s dominant and authoritarian elements are oppressing Dalits in every possible way. Since the government acts on the basis of caste and religion, Dalits are not heard anywhere. The BJP’s rule in UP has been a disastrous failure in maintaining law and order,” he said.
Yadav further alleged that the government has failed to control criminals as its own leaders openly challenge law and order without restraint. “The Chief Minister thinks that running a bulldozer over his opponents’ houses will restore peace in the state. This is an illusion. The public will not forgive him for this, and the BJP’s departure and the Samajwadi Party’s return to power in 2027 are certain,” he asserted.
