The Bharatiya Janata Party Central Election Committee (CEC) is scheduled to meet in Delhi on Saturday to give its nod to the candidates for Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh.

The saffron party, which has just announced the candidates for 51 seats so far in UP, has got to announce candidates from four seats out of the eight which will go to polls in the first phase where March 27 is the last date for filing of nominations.

In the tomorrow’s crucial CEC meeting to be held in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National President JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, apart from UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, two Deputy Chief Ministers, Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, BJP State President Bhupendra Chaudhary and General Secretary Organization Dharampal will also be present.

Sources say after the CEC meeting, the list of candidates for the remaining 24 Lok Sabha seats of UP will be released. Besides this, the quota seats of allies will also be decided.

So far, the BJP has released the list of 51 Lok Sabha candidates in UP. Two seats have been given to RLD and one seat to Suheldev BhartiyaSamajParty( SBSP) while two seats are to be given to Apna Dal (S).

A meeting of the BJP Core Committee was held in Delhi on March 18, in which the names of the UP candidates for the Lok Sabha were brainstormed. Now, this has to be approved in the CEC meeting and after this the list will be released.

According to sources, along with changing the candidates on Barabanki seat, new faces can be fielded on many other seats in the Core Committee meeting.

Suspense is still looming on the tickets of Pilibhit MP Varun Gandhi and his mother Sultanpur MP Maneka Gandhi. Apart from these, changes could be expected in Bareilly, Rae Bareli, Meerut, Kaiserganj, Ghaziabad, Allahabad, Ballia, Kanpur, Mainpuri, Saharanpur and Deoria seats.
