Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly Tejashwi Prasad Yadav said while the state is sitting on a time bomb of corruption and unemployment, the state government is attempting to bribe voters ahead of the crucial Assembly elections. However, he asserted that the people of Bihar would not fall for this trap.

Accusing the NDA government in the state of using welfare schemes as an election gimmick, Tejashwi alleged by transferring Rs 10,000 each into the bank accounts of 75 lakh women, the 20-year-old NDA government is trying to buy votes days before the elections. “After ruling for 20 years, the double-engine government has robbed Bihar’s youth of both their present and future. Now, they’re trying to cover up their failures with last-minute handouts under the Women Employment Scheme. But the people of Bihar will not be fooled by this conspiracy,” he said.

“When our government comes to power, we will provide Rs 30,000 annually to women and ensure economic justice,” he promised.

Addressing Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Tejashwi said, “You keep making announcements, but you’re putting more financial burden on the public. Why don’t you reveal that the state is paying Rs 65 crore daily from the treasury in the form of debt?”

He continued by saying, “If Nitish Kumar is not unconscious or indifferent, he should respond to our questions. This copycat government is imitating my vision, but without presenting any clear data or concrete plans for implementation.”

Referring to corruption scandals under the NDA regime in Bihar, Tejashwi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself had mentioned 32 scams under Nitish Kumar’s leadership during an earlier speech. Showing that video to journalists, Tejashwi asked, “Why is the PRIME MINISTER now silent on those scams? Where are the CBI, ED, and other investigative agencies? Has the money been recovered? Has anyone been punished?”

“The compromises made for political power clearly indicate that Modi and Nitish have struck a deal on corruption which is not in Bihar’s interest,” he added.

However, State President of the Janata Dal (United) Umesh Singh Kushwaha strongly refuted Tejashwi Yadav’s allegations against the Nitish Kumar government, saying the RJD leader is completely ignorant of the facts and has no understanding of how the schemes are being implemented.

He emphasised that Tejashwi’s statements stem from political frustration and desperation, and claimed they have no basis in reality. “The people of Bihar are vigilant and well-informed. Attempts to mislead them with falsehoods will not succeed,” Kushwaha said.
