The Election Commission has so far received over 1.4 lakh claims and objections related to the draft electoral rolls in Bihar as part of the special intensive revision (SIR) exercise, the poll panel said in its daily press update on Monday.
The SIR, which began on June 24, aims to update the voter list by verifying citizenship, identity, and residence status of registered voters.

“Over 1.4 lakh claims and objections have been received so far, including 14,374 forms from new electors who have attained 18 years of age or above,” the press release said.
The electoral registration officer (ERO) or assistant electoral registration officer (AERO) concerned will dispose of claims and objections after verifying eligibility and conducting an inquiry, while aggrieved persons can file their claims in Form 6 along with a copy of their Aadhaar card before September 1. Objections against ineligible electors can also be filed in Form 7 before the same deadline.
The draft electoral roll was published on August 1, and is available on the Chief Electoral Officer of Bihar’s website. Also, citizens can check their voter status by typing their EPIC number on the designated website or using the Voter Helpline App, the ECI said asserting that voters may need to provide documents such as birth certificates, parent’s voter ID, or land/caste certificates to prove ancestry and citizenship.
The Election Commission has assured that no voter’s name will be deleted without notice and a fair opportunity to be heard.
