Ayodhya has a deep reverence for musicians. Recently, the state government in the honour of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar had installed a massive veena at Naya Ghat intersection.
Officials here on Friday said, following the tradition, statues of three south-Indian musicians are now being installed in Ayodhya. These include South India’s devotional music composers Tyagaraja Swamigal (1767–1847), Purandar Das (1484–1564), and Arunachala Kavi (1711–1779).
The foundation work of the statues has already been completed. The statues are expected to arrive on site in the next 10 days. Initially, the foundation work for the statues was not part of the original project, but after the verbal instructions of the senior officials, the executing agency, UP Rajkiya Nirman Nigam, has included the foundation for the statue as an additional task.
Meanwhile, Brihaspati Kund is one of the 108 ancient kunds of Ayodhya, that finds mention in the Vedas, Puranas, and Upanishads. This kund is extremely important from the religious and historical point of view, as it is believed that during the Treta Yuga, Lord Ram and his brothers used to bathe and perform religious rituals in these 108 kunds.
Under the project, the area around the kund is being equipped with modern amenities. This includes the construction of permanent ghats, clean water arrangements, and proper seating for tourists. Special attention is being given to greenery and landscaping around the kund to make the place more attractive for visitors. Work on toilet blocks, security cabins, septic tanks, arch, concrete roads, boundary wall, and water treatment plant is in the final stage, while rainwater harvesting and RCC retaining wall work have been completed.
Once completed, that site will promote religious tourism in Ayodhya, sites as other kunds like Surya Kund and Bharat Kund have already been developed under the leadership of CM Yogi Adityanath.
