The ashes of former Deputy CM of Maharashtra, Ajit Pawar, were immersed in the Sangam on Sunday. The late leader’s son, Jai Pawar, immersed the ashes amid chanting of religious mantras.
The family had come to Prayagraj from Baramati by a chartered flight. Jai came barefoot from Prayagraj airport to Sangam with his father’s ashes. The family reached the ghat with a long convoy from the airport to Sangam. Many big leaders of the BJP and the NCP were also present.

NCP youth wing president Dheeraj Sharma said the Asthi Kalash yatra was brought out from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. “The yatra, which passed through 12 states, concluded today at Sangam in the presence of son and family. I went from Haridwar to Telangana in the Asthi Kalash Yatra. Ajit Dada was a big national political figure not only of Maharashtra but of the country,” he claimed.
Earlier this week, the ashes of the departed leader were immersed in the Ganga in Kashi.
Ajit Pawar died in a chartered plane crash at Baramati Airport on January 28. A total of five people, including two pilots, a female crew member and a security personnel, lost their lives in the accident. After the death of Ajit, wife Sunetra Pawar took oath as the first woman Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
