One of the vehicles of the Army convoy on the way to Udaipur military station caught fire on Friday after a technical malfunction at Gonda, 60 km away from Udaipur. There was no injury or any casualty.

On seeing the fire at 1830 hrs, the Army Quick Reaction Team came into action, cordoned off the burning truck immediately and stopped the traffic on the highway, the Defence PRO said here tonight.

“There was no loss of life. The quick reaction by the Army personnel also ensured no loss to public property or private vehicles plying on the road,” he said.

The civil administration also assisted the Army with its resources for traffic management on the road. An internal inquiry has been ordered by the Army to ascertain the cause of the fire.
