It is worth mentioning that north Kashmir is the favourite infiltration route of Pakistan backed terrorists. Several terrorists were neutralized in the recent past in the region and many terror hideouts busted leading to recovery of arms and ammunition.

However, this is after a long gap that rocket launchers have been recovered from a terrorist hideout. It indicates that infiltration of highly trained terrorists was taking place before the onset of harsh winters.

Inspector General (IG) BSF Kashmir Frontier, Ashok Yadav said that around 100 to 120 terrorists are currently stationed at the launch-pads across the Line of Control (LoC) and may attempt infiltration before winter sets in.

Security along the LoC in Kashmir remains tight, with constant monitoring and countermeasures in place to prevent any infiltration attempts by terrorists, he said.

The IG BSF said troops are maintaining high alert and are equipped with modern surveillance systems to detect and neutralise any infiltration attempts.

In another significant development in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking, Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Kashmir, has successfully recovered a substantial quantity of contraband substances and arrested accused persons involved in the commission of crime.

Besides, 2 drug peddlers have been arrested in Kulgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

Acting on specific information, a dedicated team of ANTF conducted a meticulously planned operation at Naina Batpora, District Pulwama, leading to the recovery of 56 Kgs of Charas Powder. The contraband was concealed in a manner intended to avoid detection, but the swift and professional response of the ANTF personnel ensured its seizure. The accused, identified as Gul Mohammad Mallah, a resident of Naina Batpora Pulwama, was apprehended on the spot, the police said.
