The next hearing of the case will be on September 9.

Former Additional Advocate General and Senior Advocate Imran Ullah, Vineet Vikram, and Iqbal Ahmed presented their case on behalf of SP MP Barq, while Additional Advocate General Manish Goyal presented his case on behalf of the state government.

In the petition, the charge sheet filed in the Sambhal violence case against the SP MP has been challenged in the High Court.

The violence erupted during a survey at the Shahi Jama Masjid, prompting large-scale protests and clashes on 24 November 2024. Among those injured in the vandalism and stone-pelting were common citizens, the Sambhal Superintendent of Police, the Circle Officer, and the Deputy Collector. According to the police charge sheet, MP Barq has been accused of inciting violence through provocative remarks.
