As political leaders unwind after an intense campaign in the scorching summer, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president and actor Vijay has embarked on a series of temple visits, seeking divine blessings ahead of the counting of votes.

After offering prayers at the Subramaniaswamy Temple in coastal Tiruchendur, in Thoothukudi district, he is scheduled to visit the Sai Baba shrine in Shirdi, Maharashtra.

Vijay had an early morning darshan at the Tiruchendur temple, one of the six abodes of Lord Murugan, regarded as a quintessential Tamil deity. Arriving in Madurai by air the previous night, he travelled by road to Tiruchendur and participated in the ‘Sathru Samhara Pooja,’ dressed in a traditional silk dhoti and angavastram.

Earlier, he had the Vishwaroopa Darshan of the presiding deity and was presented with a ceremonial spear, the weapon associated with the lord.

His next pilgrimage stop is Shirdi, which he had also visited ahead of the release of his film The Greatest of All Time (GOAT) in 2024 and after launching the TVK. Born to an interfaith couple—filmmaker S. A. Chandrasekar, a Catholic, and playback singer Shoba, a Hindu—Vijay is also reported to have built a Sai Baba temple in Chennai.

During his campaign in the Trichy East constituency, he had visited a church and offered prayers, a video of which went viral. He is also contesting from the Perambur constituency in Chennai.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister M. K. Stalin is expected to return to Chennai tomorrow after a family visit to the hill station of Kodaikanal, while his son and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin has travelled abroad with his family. Former BJP state president K. Annamalai left for the United States shortly after polling day.
