Nomination starts for 5th phase polls in UP for 14 LS seats, one Assembly bypoll
Nomination process for the fifth phase of Lok Sabha polls for 14 seats in Uttar Pradesh commenced on Friday.
With the Lok Sabha and Assembly polls fast approaching, Odisha Chief Minister on Saturday announced the doubling of monthly pension scheme entitlement for people living on the fringes.
The beneficiaries were being paid Rs 500 every month under Madhu Babu Pension scheme. Now with the hike, a beneficiary will be entitled to receive a minimum monthly pension of Rs 1000. Following the revision of pension, the State exchequer will bear an additional expenditure of Rs 3683 crore per annum
The beneficiaries will be paid the revised pension from the current month.

The beneficiaries under varied categories were being paid Rs 500, Rs 700 and Rs 900. With the hike, the beneficiaries will now receive double of the amount.
