After plotting an armed robbery of Rs 10 lakh and playing victim card, an employee working at a cosmetic shop failed to save himself from the law. The police pulled the curtain off the drama and arrested him.

The incident is said to have happened in the Sadar Bazaar area of North Delhi.

The accused been identified as Sarvan (43), a resident of Burari, Delhi. About Rs 9.93 lakh cash robbed from the shop have been recovered at the instance of the accused and further investigation in the matter is being carried out.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Delhi), Sagar Singh Kalsi said that on November 25, Ajay Chawla (47), the complainant, a resident of Narayna Vihar, Delhi, approached Sadar Bazar police station and reported that the robbery at his office at Teliwara Sadar Bazar from where he runs cosmetic business with the name CVB.

The complainant had sent his employee Sarvan to collect Rs 10 Lakh payment from one of his customers at Kucha Ghasiram, Chandni Chowk. But the helper came back empty handed. He said he was abducted and robbed of the money by two persons on gunpoint before thrown him off the bike at Geeta Colony Flyover, near Rajghat.

Accordingly, a case was registered at Sadar Bazar police station and investigation was taken up.

In view of the seriousness of the offence, a team led by Inspector Kanhaiya Lal Yadav, was constituted to investigate the case.

The police team started an investigation based on the statement given by the victim Sarvan. After scanning more than 50 CCTV cameras from the area of Sadar Bazar, Bara Hindu Rao, it was found that the claim of the employee was vague and suspicious.

Thereafter, a sustained interrogation was conducted, during which the culprit finally confessed to the crime and surrendered to the police.

The accused revealed that he had been working under the complainant for the last four years and with time won over his trust. He was regularly sent for the collection of payments and delivery of products by his owner.

Meanwhile, when he came to know that the amount which he has to receive is 10 lakh in cash, he became greedy, and staged the robbery drama. He planned the whole thing meticulously and decided not to run away but to come back pretending as a victim.

However, his plan failed when he could not justify his claim and got caught with the help of CCTV footage.
