After Rahul Mamkootathil’s resignation, Youth Congress defers ‘Vote Chori’ march in Kerala

Following the resignation of Rahul Mamkoottathil, MLA from the post of Youth Congress Kerala president, the Youth Congress’s long march against the Election Commission over the alleged “ electoral fraud” has been postponed.

The march, called by the Youth Congress State Committee in support of Rahul Gandhi on the Vote Chori issue, was to be held from Paravatthi to Thrissur on Friday. Youth Congress State President Rahul Mangkootam was to participate in the march. The march has been postponed due to the latest situation. The Youth Congress district leadership in Thrissur has not explained the reason for the postponement.

Political parties and youth organizations have come forward with state-wide protests against Rahul Mangkootatil, who resigned from the post of Youth Congress state president following the allegations of a young actress, accusing him of outraging modesty through messages. The BJP and CPI-M organized protests demanding that Rahul Mangkootatil should resign from the post of Palakkad MLA. Activists of Mahila Morcha, the women’s wing of the BJP carried out a protest with chickens to Rahul’s MLA office in Palakkad. There was a scuffle between the activists and the police.

There was a clash during the DYFI march to the opposition leader VD Satheesan’s office in Paravur, accusing him(Satheesan) of protecting Rahul Mangkoota. The activists who tried to break the barricade and rush into the office threw stones and sticks into the office compound.

Meanwhile, some Congress workers have come out against Shafi Parambil MP, saying that it is he (Shafi) who protected Rahul. A section of Congress and Youth Congress workers in Palakkad have filed a complaint with the high command. At the same time, Shafi Parambil has not responded to the issue yet.

In this connection, it has been reported that the daughter of a former Congress MP from Kerala is among those who have filed a complaint against Rahul Mamkootathil with the party high command.As per the complaint, Rahul promised marriage but later backed out, citing caste reasons.
