Kerala registers 69 per cent voter turnout in second phase LS polls
The state had seen a voter turnout of 77.84 per cent in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Gambhir had joined the BJP prior to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, two BJP MPs, ex-Cricketer Gautam Gambhir (East Delhi) and former Union Minister Jayana Sinha (Hazaribagh in Jharkhand), on Saturday wrote to party chief J P Nadda, asking him to relieve them of their political/electoral duties.
In a post on X, Gambhir, who has time and again been attacked by the voters of his Constituency for ‘neglecting’ it, expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for giving him the opportunity to serve the people.
The BJP parliamentarian wrote, “I have requested Party President Jagat Prakash Nadda to relieve me of my political duties so that I can focus on my upcoming cricket commitments.”
